Mission & Vision

Cleveland ISD, For Every Student

The philosophy of the Cleveland Independent School District is to build a community of empowered, life-long learners, in a way that staff, and community support, can take pride in Cleveland ISD, so that we can develop successful, productive, responsible, and healthy citizens of the world. Students will be offered high-quality support services along with innovative and customized programs that address the academic, behavioral, career, emotional, personal, and social needs of all students through effective, well-designed School Counseling Programs

Propagating Change

I believe that by affecting change in people who will disseminate out into the world, I can impart on them the importance of helping others and imbuing knowledge. I want to construct a network of people who will, in turn, create their own networks of invigoration and support. Through this positive feedback cycle that builds upon itself, I hope that I will be able to make a lasting and far reaching change in the community and, eventually, all of the places my future clients will go.

Focus on Community Impact

How do we change the way it is done? How do we make a lasting impact on the community? The answer is simple, by focusing on one community member at a time. We have to equip the members of the community with the clout and tools to affect influence and foster the needed change. I aspire to do this for my future clients' communities by utilizing our greatest resource for revolution: children and young people. By means of directing my attention to this population, I can push for a change in the culture and future of the community that will last over generations. Furthermore, this amazing advancement will follow these young people as they age, grow, and move to new communities, facilitating progress in those new places.

Multicultural Focus

Albeit much has been studied, learned, and implemented in regard to mental health, the biggest share of that knowledge and application has been focused on the white population. Unfortunately, only a relatively small allocation of the studying and execution has been performed to benefit people of color. As such, I desire to focus my future practice on those groups who have been historically disenfranchised, marginalized, and left out of the break throughs in mental health. I embrace my calling to support those who need backing the most.

Professional Ambitions

After completing my program, I plan on working in the Texas public education system for a number of years until I feel that I have made a stable impact on the culture of the students. I would like to then transition to post-secondary education academic advising. This would permit me to further enhance my outreach and promote more giving back through community engagement and student involvement that will self-propagate.
